In the frame of seminar: “Mutually beneficial cooperation between concern BASF and SOCAR in the field of chemistry” hold on the 7-th July, 2011 in Baku, for the first time the companies considered possible directions of mutual cooperation in the field of hydrocarbon production and refining. 

The main goal of the seminar was to introduce the manufacturing plants and scientific-research organizations of SOCAR with the activities of the concern BASF, the modern technologies and developments in the oil gas area, which BASF offers to its partners. The specialists of industrial associations of “Azneft” and “Azerkimya”, oil refinery plant “Azerneftyagh” and plant named after Heydar Aliyev, gas processing plant and scientific-research institute under SOCAR took part in seminar. 

The seminar was announced to be opened by the head of BASF Russia Business Center and CIS countries Sergey Andreev who welcomed the participants. The vice-president of the SOCAR on oil gas production and refinery, Davud Mammadov had a speech on the history of foundation of the SOCAR, on the company development strategy and also emphasized that the solution of ecological issues shall be considered in the long term programs on the development of the sector. Mr. Mammadov also shared with the plans on construction of new oil & gas processing complex in Sangachal and an idea on appropriateness of building Chemical Park caused with the increased consumption of polymers.

Mr. Mammadov stated that for the successful implementation of these grandiose projects into life, the experience and advanced technologies of BASF may be of great help and the demand in such a reliable partner as BASF is obvious. “We have made the first and successful step toward determination of junction points with the leader in the chemical area – concern BASF. We will maintain the relations with Mr. Ultsch and Mr. Andreev, and will organize the specialized seminars or sessions with participation of technicians of our factories on gas processing plants, oil-chemistry factories and oil production and exploring divisions. These narrow profiled seminars will enable us to find necessary chemical solutions to the available technical problems and let the BASF specialists clearly determine the problems for the solution of which the SOCAR is seeking for the chemical support” – said the deputy chief of the project management division on oil gas refinery of the SOCAR.

In the course of two sections the experts of BASF presented the participants of the seminar the solutions for the oil and gas production, advanced technologies on treating of natural, associated and synthesis gas, spoke on catalysts owing to which there is probability of improvement in oil gas refinery economics. The speech was also about the latest achievements in the enhancement of modern fuels and lubricants. Besides all, the guests were represented the products and the solutions for the industrial engineering.
